I am a mom, wife, daughter, sister and IT Director from Vancouver, WA.

I’ve had animals in my home for most of my life.  Mostly cats as an adult but have also rescued two greyhounds and now Lucy, our crazy, crooked, twisted, probably dwarf Mastiff Rottweiler dog.

I’m writing this blog to share the unconditional love we’ve received from adopting a special needs dog, but also to share the challenges, stresses, pains and heartaches that come along the way.

Lucy is the product of inbreeding.  I hope this blog will help to shed some light on backyard breeding practices and the problems that are created when people do not understand genetics and are only interested in making a buck off a “specialty” mix.
